We keep formulas minimal, letting traditional ingredients speak for themselves.
At The Tallow Pantry, every ingredient earns its place. Our formulas are intentionally minimal — designed to nourish the skin and support the skin’s natural barrier, with a sensory experience that feels calm, clean, and considered.
Some balms include small amounts of essential oils for scent and ritual. Some balms are only very lightly scented. Essential oils aren’t for everyone, so we always recommend a patch test before first use.
INCI names are the standard ingredient names used on cosmetic labels.
Core base
100% Grass-Fed & Finished Beef Tallow
INCI: Butyrum Bovis
Our signature base — triple-rendered for a refined, silky feel. Naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) that occur in animal fats. Chosen for its rich glide and skin-compatible finish.
Aroma: Naturally mild when rendered well. Balms with minimal essential oils may retain a faint natural tallow aroma.
Beeswax
INCI: Cera Alba
Included to help give structure and a smooth, protective finish. Chosen for its stability and traditional use in balms.
Aroma: Naturally light with a subtle honey note.
Vitamin E
INCI: Tocopherol
Included as an antioxidant to support formula stability over time.
Aroma: Very mild, slightly nutty.
Botanical oils
Almond Oil
Botanical name: Prunus amygdalus dulcis
A classic oil used for softness and comfort, helping create a plush, silky finish.
Aroma: Mild, softly nutty.
Note: Contains nut derivatives — avoid if you have almond/nut allergies.
Coconut Oil
Botanical name: Cocos nucifera
Used to soften the balm and support a smooth melt on contact. Adds creaminess and glide.
Aroma: Soft coconut note.
Hemp Seed Oil
Botanical name: Cannabis sativa
Chosen for its lightweight texture and naturally green hue. Adds a soft, fast-absorbing feel to whipped balms.
Aroma: Nutty, earthy.
Jojoba Oil
Botanical name: Simmondsia chinensis
Included for its lightweight feel and ability to support a balanced, non-greasy finish.
Aroma: Very mild, slightly nutty.

Bergamot Essential Oil
Botanical name: Citrus bergamia
Chosen for its fresh, uplifting citrus aroma.
Aroma: Bright, citrus, lightly floral.
Carrot Seed Oil
Botanical name: Daucus carota sativa
Used in select blends as a warm, earthy botanical note. Included to add depth to the scent profile and overall sensory experience.
Aroma: Earthy, sweet, herbaceous.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Botanical name: Cedrus atlantica
Included for its warm, grounding aroma and depth in scent blends.
Aroma: Woody, dry, balsamic.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Botanical name: Boswellia carterii
A warm, resinous note often chosen in cosmetic routines for mature skin. Included for scent and ritual.
Aroma: Woody, resinous, subtly spicy.
Geranium Essential Oil
Botanical name: Pelargonium graveolens
Chosen for its soft floral aroma and balancing sensory presence.
Aroma: Floral, sweet, rosy.
Lavender Essential Oil

Chosen for its familiar, gentle floral aroma.

INCI: Zinc Oxide
Included in select formulas to provide a smooth mineral finish.
Odour: Odourless.
